Jeremy Clarkson Breaks Silence — The Truth Behind His Painful Surgery and Big Career Shift
Jeremy Clarkson Launches New Business After “Painful” Hospital Ordeal — And the Name Says It All
Television icon Jeremy Clarkson has made a surprising career move just weeks after revealing that he underwent a “painful” hospital procedure. The Clarkson’s Farm and Grand Tour presenter, 65, has officially registered a new company — and in true Clarkson fashion, he’s given it a name that’s both cheeky and defiant: Still Breathing Ltd.
From Hospital Bed to Business Launch
According to records from Companies House, Clarkson’s new business was incorporated on October 22, with its listed purpose being “security dealing on own account.” While that vague description leaves fans guessing about the company’s true nature, the timing — coming right after his latest health scare — has sparked plenty of speculation.
The name Still Breathing appears to be a tongue-in-cheek nod to Clarkson’s recent struggles with his health. The TV star revealed in his Sunday Times column that he had to undergo a “Defcon 1 painful” treatment at John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.
“The treatment was Defcon 1 painful,” he wrote. “They had to peel me off the ceiling with a spatula afterwards and I was forced to stay the night — but it was OK. I’m not going to tell you what was wrong, because that’s none of your business.”
While Clarkson didn’t disclose the exact nature of the procedure, his candid tone and signature humor reassured fans that he’s recovering — and perhaps even using his experience as creative inspiration.
A Complicated Relationship With the NHS
The revelation came shortly after Clarkson publicly criticized the National Health Service, calling it a “creaking monster” in a previous rant. Yet, after receiving emergency care, the outspoken presenter had a change of heart, praising the NHS staff for their professionalism and compassion.
It’s not the first time health has slowed the famously energetic host. In 2023, Clarkson was rushed to hospital after experiencing heart-related symptoms.
He described feeling “clammy,” with “pins and needles” in his left arm and tightness in his chest — classic signs of cardiac distress. Doctors discovered that one of his arteries was completely blocked and another was dangerously close to the same condition.
“They fitted me with two stents,” Clarkson revealed. “It seems that of the arteries feeding my heart with nourishing blood, one was completely blocked and the second of three was heading that way.”
The incident was serious enough that, by his own admission, he was lucky to catch it in time. “I certainly wasn’t having a heart attack,” he wrote, “but if it hadn’t looked that way, I never would have been sent to hospital.”
“Crikey, That Was Close”
Clarkson’s recovery followed a worrying episode while on holiday in the Indian Ocean. He recalled moments when he struggled to swim or climb stairs without help, prompting concern that something was seriously wrong.
“These problems all manifested themselves in one day,” he explained. “So the rest of my holiday was extremely relaxing — all I did was sit in a chair drinking wine and eating cheese.”
Once home, his symptoms intensified. “I woke on Wednesday morning not feeling too good,” he said. “I was clammy and there was a tightness in my chest. The next morning I went home, and here I am, two hours later, writing this and sort of thinking, ‘Crikey, that was close.’”
Back to Business — and the Farm
Despite his health setbacks, Clarkson shows no signs of slowing down. His hit Amazon Prime series Clarkson’s Farm is officially returning for a fifth season next year, continuing to follow his misadventures at Diddly Squat Farm in the Cotswolds.
Fans can expect more of the humor, chaos, and surprisingly heartfelt storytelling that made the show a global favorite.
Meanwhile, speculation swirls around Still Breathing Ltd. — with some suggesting it could be related to future media projects or personal investments. Whatever the case, the name perfectly captures Clarkson’s indomitable spirit.
After a turbulent year of hospital visits and close calls, Jeremy Clarkson has once again turned adversity into opportunity — and made sure the world knows that he’s, quite literally, still breathing.
