James May’s Wild Reaction to Clarkson’s Gin Has Fans in Stitches!– Watch What Happens.

James May Pretends to Vomit After Tasting Jeremy Clarkson’s Gin: A Hilarious Gin Rivalry Brews Among Former Grand Tour Hosts

James May has taken a playful jab at his longtime friend and former Grand Tour co-host Jeremy Clarkson—by dramatically pretending to vomit after tasting Clarkson’s gin.

In a lighthearted TikTok review, May—who has his own successful gin line, James Gin—sampled a can of Diddly Squat Farm Shop gin, produced under Clarkson’s Hawkstone brand. As he inspected the can, May humorously read the packaging aloud:

“Gin in a tin. Oh! It’s Diddly Squat Farm Shop gin. Exclusively distilled in the shire by Gin in a Tin, bla bla bla… Diddly Squat. Usual UK chief medical officer’s stuff.”

At first, May gave the gin a fair chance:

“Well, it is at least a gin. Smells ginny. Very promising.”

But moments after taking a sip, he appeared to gag and dramatically stumbled off-camera—leaving viewers wondering whether the reaction was real or just expertly delivered comedy.

Fans React: “Clarkson!!!”

The TikTok clip quickly gained traction, with fans debating whether May’s reaction was genuine or just good acting.

“I can’t tell if that was on purpose or if he actually did that,” one user wrote.
Another joked, “Even after 25 years of friendship, they still try to destroy each other’s businesses.”
“Adding ‘CLARKSON!!!’ here would’ve been gold,” another fan commented, referencing their iconic onscreen banter.

A Gin War is Brewing

All three Grand Tour presenters now have their own gin brands. Clarkson launched Hawkstone Gin in 2021 as part of his Diddly Squat Farm product line, while May has developed a loyal following with his experimental James Gin—including unusual flavors like Asian Parsnip.

Now, Richard Hammond is joining the mix. The 55-year-old TV host is preparing to launch his own brand, Ratio, and play catch-up with his gin-loving colleagues.

“I’m the last to the party,” Hammond admitted. “Which is amusing because I’ve always been the more committed gin drinker.”

“All the years we’ve worked together, I was drinking gin way before the current resurgence,” he added.

A Friendly (and Boozy) Rivalry

Although the Grand Tour may be over, the chemistry between Clarkson, May, and Hammond is clearly still alive—this time, on the shelves of liquor stores. Whether May’s over-the-top review was genuine or just for laughs, it’s all part of the enduring, mischievous rivalry fans have loved for decades.
