Todd Chrisley Reveals the Untold Truth About His ‘Last Season’ Plans Before Everything Changed.

Todd Chrisley Reveals Chrisley Knows Best Season 10 Was Going to Be His Last Before Guilty Verdict

For nearly a decade, Chrisley Knows Best gave viewers a front-row seat into the lavish, drama-filled world of Todd Chrisley and his family. But behind the witty one-liners, extravagant lifestyle, and carefully curated family moments, something darker was brewing. As the show climbed in popularity, federal investigators closed in—and eventually brought everything crashing down.

Now, in a surprising revelation, Todd admits he was already preparing to walk away from reality TV long before his guilty verdict forced the end of the hit USA Network series.

“I Had Started Winding Down”

Todd Chrisley recently opened up to People about his state of mind during the later years of Chrisley Knows Best. While the cameras captured the usual mix of comedy, family banter, and Southern charm, Todd revealed that his passion for the series had started to fade.

Chrisley Knows Best was a wonderful show and still is,” Todd said. “You can tell in how many times it’s airing in reruns and whatever. I’m grateful for what the show brought us, but to whom much is given, much is required.

According to Todd, the problem wasn’t the fame or the attention—it was the way production pushed the family to present themselves in a way that didn’t always match reality.

“I started feeling annoyed with production because they were making the family present themselves in one way on screen when we were actually having to live another way,” he explained.

That disconnect, Todd says, is what made him “start winding down.” By the time Season 10 rolled around, he had made up his mind.

Planning to Leave After Season 10

Todd confessed that Season 10 would have been his last, regardless of what came next. “This was going to be my last contract that I was going to renew with USA Network for Chrisley Knows Best,” he revealed. “And I was working on my last season.

The idea of retirement, however, wasn’t popular with everyone. Todd said that other members of his family pushed him to reconsider. They wanted the show to go on, even if he wanted out.

“And I’m fighting with them, saying, ‘No, I’m not. No, I’m not. You guys have been doing it as long as I have. Keep going if that’s what you want to do,’” Todd recalled.

But the decision would soon be taken out of his hands entirely.

The FBI Steps In

As Todd and Julie Chrisley’s legal troubles became national news, everything they had built came tumbling down. The couple was convicted on multiple charges, including bank fraud, conspiracy to defraud the United States, and tax evasion. Instead of signing another contract for reality TV, they were sentenced to prison.

Todd himself has joked that while he tried to resist renewing his contract, fate had other plans. “And then God kind of said, ‘Okay, I’ll fix that for you. None of you can do it,’” he told People.

The Chrisleys: Back To Reality': Interview With Producers

With that, Chrisley Knows Best officially ended after nine seasons, leaving fans stunned at how quickly the empire unraveled.

Back in Front of the Cameras

Despite the downfall, Todd Chrisley hasn’t disappeared from television. In fact, he’s already making a comeback. His new Lifetime series, The Chrisleys: Back to Reality, picks up immediately after his release from prison.

Cameras were rolling the very moment Todd stepped out, capturing the raw reality of a man once at the top of reality TV now attempting to rebuild his life.

The show promises to deliver a different kind of drama—less polished, less curated, and more about redemption, survival, and the fallout of a very public scandal.

A Career Cut Short, A Story Still Unfolding

Todd Chrisley’s confession that Season 10 would have been his swan song adds a new layer of irony to the family’s story. He was ready to leave reality TV on his own terms, but instead, he was forced out under circumstances no one could have predicted.

What remains to be seen is whether audiences will embrace his return—or if The Chrisleys: Back to Reality will serve as a reminder of how quickly fame and fortune can vanish when secrets come to light.

One thing is certain: Todd Chrisley may have been winding down, but his story is far from over.
