Lindsie Chrisley is breaking her silence about the difficult situation she’s facing following the release of her family’s new Lifetime reality show, The Chrisleys: Back to Reality. The former Chrisley Knows Best star says she’s been dealing with intense public reaction — and even alarming messages — after her relatives discussed her on-air.
A Complicated Family Story
Lindsie, the daughter of Todd Chrisley and stepdaughter of Julie Chrisley, was part of Chrisley Knows Best for several seasons before leaving after Season 5. The show ended in 2022 after Todd and Julie were convicted of financial crimes. The couple was later released from prison earlier this year following a presidential pardon, and they’ve since returned to television with their new Lifetime series alongside children Savannah, Chase, Grayson, and Chloe.
Though Lindsie has been estranged from her parents and siblings for years — aside from a short reconciliation before Todd and Julie began serving their sentences — she says her family’s latest on-camera comments have led to a wave of negativity directed at her online.
“I Had to Step Away From Social Media”
On a new episode of her podcast The Southern Tea, Lindsie shared that she’s been emotionally affected by the fan backlash tied to The Chrisleys: Back to Reality.
“I haven’t watched any of the footage,” she explained. “I was advised by people I work with not to, for my own mental health.” Instead, she said others on her team reviewed the show and summarized key points for her.
Even without watching the episodes, Lindsie said she’s seen plenty of clips and commentary circulating online. She revealed that the reaction became so overwhelming that she decided to step back from social media entirely.
“I took myself off social media for about seven weeks,” she said. “It just became too much. I was doing normal things like dropping my son off at school, and suddenly I’d see messages filled with anger or hate. It was emotionally exhausting.”
What Sparked the Tension
On a recent episode of Back to Reality, Lindsie’s half-siblings Savannah and Grayson alleged that she had once cooperated with investigators during their parents’ case years ago — a claim Lindsie has strongly denied in the past. Savannah told viewers that learning this during sentencing was “heartbreaking” for her father.
According to earlier reports from The Daily Mail, Lindsie contacted the Georgia Department of Revenue in 2017, after her family had already been informed they were under investigation. She reportedly did so out of concern for how the situation might affect her own safety and her young son at the time.
On the show, Savannah and Grayson also suggested that Lindsie distanced herself from the family due to jealousy and tension within the household — something Lindsie has previously described as a misunderstanding fueled by years of conflict and emotional strain.
Old Wounds and New Conversations
In addition to these renewed accusations, Savannah recalled an alleged disagreement between Lindsie and Julie years ago, which she said led to Lindsie’s departure from Chrisley Knows Best. Lindsie later addressed that period on her podcast, saying it was a painful time marked by both personal and public challenges.
Despite the renewed spotlight, Lindsie said she’s focusing on protecting her mental health and raising her son, Jackson. While she has changed her last name in the past — briefly adopting her partner David Landsman’s surname — she has since returned to using “Chrisley” professionally.
Moving Forward
Lindsie also gave context to her long and complicated family history, saying her first major estrangement from her parents occurred while she was in college back in 2009.
Although she admits reconciliation seems unlikely right now, Lindsie says she’s trying to move forward with grace and focus on her own healing. “I wish everyone peace,” she said, “but I’m choosing to set boundaries and focus on my own life and my son’s happiness.”
