Julie Chrisley’s Bold New Appearance Leaves Todd Speechless: Here’s What He Said.

Todd Chrisley Reacts to Julie’s Post-Prison Look: “I Thought About Going Back”

Reality Star Candidly Opens Up About Seeing Wife Julie After Release

Todd Chrisley is known for his unfiltered honesty, and his latest podcast episode delivered another candid moment—this time about his wife, Julie Chrisley’s post-prison appearance. On the July 23 episode of Chrisley Confessions, the reality TV patriarch didn’t hold back when describing the shock he felt upon seeing Julie for the first time after both were released from prison, following a presidential pardon from Donald Trump.

“I’m not going to lie,” Todd told Julie. “When I first saw you when I got out of that car, I started thinking about going back.” The remark, though meant in jest, was aimed at Julie’s drastically changed appearance—particularly her darker, graying hair.

Julie’s Viral Transformation Sparks Reactions

Julie referenced a viral photo of herself that circulated online, showing her with dark roots and graying hair—a stark departure from her signature blonde look that became a staple of the Chrisley Knows Best brand. “It was a horrible picture,” Julie admitted, prompting Todd to quip, “You set the bar low, there was nowhere to go but up.”

Julie responded, half amused and half annoyed, “Are you kidding me, right now?” She explained, “I didn’t have any choice,” referring to the strict conditions and limited resources during her incarceration.

From TV Fame to Prison and Presidential Pardon

The Chrisleys rose to fame through their long-running USA Network reality series Chrisley Knows Best, which aired for 10 seasons from 2014 to 2023. The show was known not only for its Southern flair and over-the-top family dynamics but also for Todd and Julie’s constant banter, often walking the line between sharp wit and affectionate roasting.

In June 2022, their seemingly perfect on-screen life unraveled when Todd and Julie were convicted of conspiracy to defraud banks out of over $36 million in loans, as well as tax evasion. Julie was also found guilty of wire fraud and obstruction of justice.

Their legal drama took a dramatic turn in May 2025 when former President Donald Trump officially pardoned the couple. The announcement was made during a conversation between Trump and the Chrisleys’ daughter, Savannah Chrisley, who had long campaigned for their release and even spoke at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.

What’s Next for the Chrisleys?

With their prison sentences behind them, Todd and Julie appear ready to reenter the public eye—albeit with a few jabs at each other along the way. Their signature blend of humor and real-life drama continues to captivate fans, even as they face the aftermath of scandal and redemption.

Whether they’ll return to TV or pursue new ventures remains to be seen. But one thing’s for sure: the Chrisleys are far from fading into the background.
