Chase Chrisley Jokes His Family’s ‘Raw’ New Series Made Him Think, ‘Can We Go Back to Chrisley Knows Best?’.
“Raw and Real”: Chase Chrisley Opens Up About New Docuseries and Life After Todd and Julie’s Release
The Chrisley family is back — but not how you remember them.
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Moonshiners star Chase Chrisley opens up about his family’s upcoming Lifetime docuseries — a raw, unscripted departure from the light-hearted sitcom style of Chrisley Knows Best.
“Can We Go Back to Laughing?”
Chase, 29, known for his comedic flair on Chrisley Knows Best, reflects on how different this new series feels.
“It’s very different than Chrisley Knows Best, because that was a family sitcom. This is just raw footage — raw. I’m like, ‘Can we go back to the old show? Let’s just laugh,’” he told PEOPLE.
But while there are still some laughs, the tone is more serious and heartfelt. The series focuses on the real-life struggles and emotional resilience of the Chrisley family following the legal troubles that sent Todd and Julie to prison.
The Chrisley Kids Step Up
The series features Chase, Savannah, Grayson, Chloe, and fan-favorite Nanny Faye, as they navigate life in the absence of Todd and Julie — who were originally not expected to appear.
“We were at the tail end of filming,” Chase reveals, “then everything changed.”
That change? Todd and Julie Chrisley’s early release from prison after a presidential pardon from Donald Trump.
The Cameras Rolled Again
The unexpected turn led producers to pick the cameras back up — capturing the emotional family reunion and the dramatic shift in tone.
“My dad is my dad,” Chase says. “He came out guns blazing. He’s ready for anybody and everybody. And anyone who knows him knows — things have changed.”
“We’re Finally Ourselves”
Chase admits that during the run of Chrisley Knows Best, they often felt like they were playing roles.
“I played a character. Savannah played a character. We all did. Now, we’re able to be open and vulnerable — show the highs, the lows. And no matter how low we get kicked down, we’re still going to get back up.”
A New Beginning — With Gratitude
With Todd and Julie now home, Chase says it’s been an “amazing adjustment.”
“Even after the conviction, I knew deep down this wasn’t the end result. I just kept waiting for something to happen. Thank God for President Trump — something did. It’s like a weight’s been lifted off my shoulders.”
What to Expect
The new Lifetime series promises to offer fans:
-
A deeper, more authentic look at the Chrisleys’ real lives
-
Emotional family moments not shown before
-
A spotlight on how the family is carrying on the legacy — and rebuilding
“You’re going to get a full breakdown on everything,” Chase promises.
