Fans of Clarkson’s Farm are on the hunt for their next favourite series after the conclusion of the latest instalment of Jeremy Clarkson’s agricultural adventures.
For those keen on reality shows that delve into the bustling world of farming, there’s a standout series offering a unique glimpse into American farm life. ‘Our Little Farm on the Prairie’, streaming on My5, tracks the Doan family in North Dakota.
The show’s description states: “A close-knit family, the Doans are real-life cowboys with big personalities who have farmed their land for generations and are trying to still make a living off of it in the modern world.
“Filmed over a summer, ‘Our Little Farm on the Prairie’ is set across the 17,000 acres of the Doan’s Black Leg Ranch, showcasing the family’s commitment to their rural lifestyle and enduring American traditions.”
Executive producer Sam Grace has praised the Doans as “an extraordinary family”, noting that the series provides “fascinating insight into the ups and downs of their all-American life in the Midwest”.
The Doans tackle various challenges from rodeo events to managing large-scale gatherings, handling unpredictable livestock, and herding cattle.
This engaging and heartwarming series is an ideal pick for those seeking a slice of escapism akin to the charm found in Clarkson’s Farm.
With a legacy spanning six generations, Black Leg Ranch was first homesteaded in 1882 by George H. Doan, adding a layer of historical depth to the family’s story.
Now, the ranch is managed by the fifth generation – Jeremy, Jay, and Jayce – the youngest of whom has always had a passion for farming.
Jayce is married to Kassy, who was raised on her family’s cattle ranch near Havre, and together they have a son.
Their family enterprise is Black Leg Ranch Meats, purveyors of 100% grass-fed and grass-finished beef and buffalo meats.
In addition to managing the ranch and their business, the couple also enjoy attending rodeos.
The first series comprises four episodes, which will be available for streaming until September 2027.
