Kelvin and Liz Fletcher Face Heart-Warming Farm Decision as Family Welcomes New Arrival
Kelvin and Liz Fletcher have shared an emotional and joyful update from their Cheshire farm, revealing a moment that delighted their four children while also highlighting the realities of life in agriculture.
During Sunday’s episode of Fletchers’ Family Farm on ITV, the former Emmerdale star and his wife were faced with a surprisingly tough decision after welcoming a newborn bull calf to the farm. As is tradition in the Fletcher household, the entire family became involved in choosing a name — but this time, the process came with an unexpected rule.
A New Calf — and Many Opinions
Kelvin and Liz, who are parents to Marnie, Milo, Maximus and Mateusz, gathered their children together to introduce the newest addition to the farm. The arrival of the healthy bull calf quickly turned into a lively debate over what he should be called.
Each child had strong opinions. Milo and Mateusz both championed the bold name Wolf King, while Marnie preferred the more traditional Oliver. Maximus suggested Spin, and Liz herself leaned towards Barry.
However, just as the excitement reached its peak, Kelvin stepped in with an important reminder. As registered livestock, newborn calves must be officially named according to breed guidelines. For Lincoln Red cattle, the Lincoln Red Cattle Society designates a specific letter for names each year — and 2025, it turns out, belongs to the letter E.
One Name Stands Out
The rule instantly ruled out most of the family’s suggestions. Kelvin jokingly admitted that the only “E” name he could think of was Emmerdale, the ITV soap where he played Andy Sugden for nearly two decades.
Liz, however, quickly came to the rescue with a more fitting option. She suggested the name Ezra, a choice that not only met the official requirement but also struck a chord with the children.
When Kelvin and Liz announced the final decision, the reaction was instant approval. Marnie led the family in an impromptu sing-along to George Ezra’s hit Green Green Grass, turning a practical farming moment into a joyful family celebration.
Life on the Farm Continues to Evolve
The naming moment was just one of many examples of how Fletchers’ Family Farm blends the realities of agriculture with family life. Since moving from the city to the countryside, Kelvin and Liz have documented their journey adapting to farming, raising animals, and building a new lifestyle with their children.
That journey is now expanding even further, with ITV confirming a brand-new festive spin-off featuring the Fletcher family.
A New Christmas Special for ITV
Daisybeck Studios, the production company behind Fletchers’ Family Farm, recently announced a new programme titled Fletchers’ Country Workshop. The reveal came via the company’s official Instagram page, accompanied by a warm image of Liz.
The announcement teased:
“Big news! We’re super excited to show you something new that’s coming next week. With an ever-growing passion for interiors and upcycling, Liz and the rest of the Fletcher family have been working hard to craft, make, and create something special on the farm this Christmas.”
A follow-up post confirmed the details, describing the show as a festive special that follows Liz and the family as they “roll up their sleeves and dive into designing, making, crafting and full-on DIY.”
Transforming the Farm for Christmas
In the one-hour Christmas special, Liz takes on the challenge of transforming the family’s old stable block into a festive venue suitable for hosting a Christmas party for friends and family. With a large space to fill and ambitious ideas to bring to life, the project becomes a true team effort.
According to the show’s description, it is “all hands on deck” as the family work together, showcasing creativity, problem-solving and heart-warming teamwork.
The episode will also feature appearances from all four Fletcher children, as well as a cameo from Liz’s father, adding another layer of family connection to the festive atmosphere.
