Todd Chrisley Breaks Silence on Life Shifts Following His Return Home.
Life After Prison: Todd Chrisley Opens Up About Freedom, Family, and Finding Peace
It has been nearly three months since reality television star Todd Chrisley walked out of prison and began a new chapter of his life. Known to millions from Chrisley Knows Best, Todd spent 28 months behind bars after being convicted of tax and fraud-related charges. Now, for the first time, he is opening up in detail about what life has been like since his release — the relief, the challenges, and the surprising lessons he’s carrying into the future.
The Return Home
When asked how he was feeling after regaining his freedom, Todd’s answer was simple and sincere: “I feel great. I feel great.” The enthusiasm was evident, though he quickly acknowledged that adjusting hasn’t been as easy as some might assume.
“Coming home to your people, to your surroundings is always a comforting thing,” Todd said. “But you know, there is that adjustment period. You went from your whole life doing things one way, then the last 28 months doing them someone else’s way. And now you’re stepping back into a world where everyone else has been living life in a different way.”
That adjustment, he admitted, has been both joyful and jarring. “As grateful as we are — and clearly I would have stopped at nothing to have them home — it’s a big adjustment period. Everyone’s just kind of in shock.”
Life Beyond the Spotlight
While Todd and his family have lived in front of cameras for years, the past few months have been less about the television spotlight and more about simply reclaiming everyday freedoms.
“Just having your freedom back, being able to make the choices that you weren’t able to make for 28 months — that’s a wonderful thing,” he explained. “You don’t realize what you have until you don’t.”
But freedom hasn’t just meant being able to come and go as he pleases. For Todd, it has reshaped his mindset, giving him a new sense of peace and perspective.
“I think I have a much clearer perception of where I want my life to go, the direction I want it to go in,” he said. “I’m not as easily agitated over things that I was before. I don’t really care about certain things that shouldn’t have mattered to me then. They matter even less now.”
Lessons Learned
Todd pointed to a shift in how he views perfection — both in his personal life and the public eye.
“I’m not as focused on everything being perfect. I’m not as focused on you thinking that we’re perfect,” he admitted. “I have a greater peace within myself.”
This sentiment was echoed by his daughter, Savannah Chrisley, who has been one of his most vocal supporters throughout his incarceration. She agreed that her father’s outlook has changed drastically since his release.
“Even just with stuff like clothes, he’s just like, ‘Oh, it’s fine,’” Savannah said. “When you get so used to living a life with essentially nothing, that’s just kind of what you do.”
A New Chapter Ahead
For Todd, prison life stripped away the distractions and luxuries he had long been accustomed to. Yet, instead of leaving him bitter, the experience seems to have instilled a new resilience and clarity.
The man once defined by designer clothes, a lavish lifestyle, and witty one-liners on reality TV now speaks openly about peace, simplicity, and authenticity.
While it remains to be seen whether Todd will return to television in a full-time capacity, what is clear is that his focus has shifted toward family, faith, and rebuilding his life outside of prison walls.
Three months out, Todd’s journey is still unfolding — but his words carry the weight of someone who has faced loss, endured hardship, and come out on the other side determined to live with more gratitude and less pretense.
And in many ways, that lesson may be more valuable than any ratings hit could ever deliver.
