Rick Ness Triumphs Amid the Most Chaotic Season of His Gold Rush Career.
Rick Ness Strikes Gold: Inside the Most Chaotic, High-Stakes Season of His Career
Jackpot or Bust?
Rick Ness just uncovered what could be the richest gold mine of his career. From battling equipment breakdowns to facing $250,000 land deals and managing a skeleton crew, every ounce mined this season has come at a brutal cost. But a few lucky test pans and a record-breaking cleanup may change everything
A Rough Start — Then 100+ Ounces
Early in the season, Rick faced downtime at the plant and setbacks at every corner. Despite the odds, he scraped together 50 ounces. Then came a major win: 100 ounces here, 200 ounces there—numbers that had even Rick saying, “Jesus.”
Could this be his breakout moment? Or just another tease?
The 2,000-Ounce Dream
Rick set a towering season goal: 2,000 ounces. It’s a number that hovers like a storm cloud. Falling short isn’t just a disappointment—it’s a financial disaster. And as winter closes in, the pressure intensifies.
The operation suffers repeated hits:
-
Cracked hydraulic lines
-
Missing crew members
-
Flooded sites
-
Breakdowns on multi-million-dollar machines
Every lost hour means gold left in the ground.
A Father’s Help, A Crew Too Small
With things falling apart, Rick calls in his father—who jumps in without hesitation. Side by side, they repair the 700 excavator and manage the wash plant “Monster Red,” proving that grit and family still count.
Torchston, a 20-year-old student, steps up to build the massive 750 digger. With Carl missing and only four men doing the job of eight, the stress is relentless.
A Risky Land Deal & the Bacon Strip
Landowner Troy Taylor offers to sell Rick the mining ground for $250,000 or 150 ounces of gold. It’s the dream: to own his own claim. But with everything on the line, is this the time to buy?
Brennan takes a wild guess and stumbles onto a promising new area—“The Bacon Strip.” But chaos follows: a stuck rock truck, a sudden flood, and the disappearance (and dramatic return) of Riley, their driver—with a fight story and a hospital visit.
Gold, Floods, and Freddy Dodge to the Rescue
Despite the setbacks, the crew pulls in over 75 ounces in one cleanup. Then disaster: a structural failure floods the wash plant. With help from Rick’s dad, they keep going. But with Monster Red failing, Rick calls in the big guns—Freddy Dodge and Juan—to repair the punch plates and bring the plant back to life.
It works. The team pulls in 17.72 ounces—a much-needed win.
Nuggets and New Hope
Pushing into Rally Valley, the crew finds heavy rock—often a sign of gold. Quick pans show real nuggets. A 14-ounce cleanup follows, keeping the dream alive. But Monster Red isn’t ready. Rick hesitates—then commits.
A surprise shows up: a brand-new hopper feeder. No one knows how Rick paid for it, but it changes everything.
The Rollercoaster Continues
Even with new gear, more breakdowns hit. Conveyor belts clog with rocks. A last-minute fix—a “finger trap” from the manufacturer—saves the system.
Meanwhile, their biggest challenge yet looms: a flooded cut, with 6 feet of water blocking rich pay dirt. A 10-inch pump (costing $40,000) finally drains it. The result?
-
29.8 ounces from Monster Red
-
95 ounces from Rocky
-
Over half a million dollars in gold
Time is Running Out
But there’s no time to celebrate. Brennan’s sudden promotion is glossed over. Another flood hits. And even as they get closer to the goal, setbacks continue to threaten the season.
So far, Rick has mined 687.5 ounces. Strong, but not enough.
Will Rick Ness Make History?
The stakes have never been higher. Every decision, every repair, every gamble could make or break the season. Rick Ness is fighting for gold, legacy, and survival in the harshest conditions imaginable.
Could this be the biggest win of his career—or the final straw?
