Lindsie Chrisley Makes Controversial Decision: Drops Chrisley, Takes Her Boyfriend’s Last Name!
Lindsie Chrisley Breaks Silence on Dropping Family Name: “It Became Very Problematic”
The reality star opens up about her decision to adopt her boyfriend’s last name — and what it really means for her future.
Lindsie Chrisley is setting the record straight after making a quiet yet noticeable change to her identity on social media — one that sparked rumors of a secret wedding and reignited public curiosity about her relationship with the Chrisley name.
Earlier this month, the 35-year-old podcast host updated her Instagram display name to “Lindsie Landsman,” seemingly adopting the surname of her boyfriend, David Landsman. The move fueled speculation that the pair had gotten married, especially after she posted a beachside photo shoot on July 11 featuring herself, David, and her son, Jackson.
But in the July 16 episode of her podcast The Southern Tea, Lindsie clarified that the name change has nothing to do with marriage — and everything to do with reclaiming peace and identity.
“The Chrisley Name No Longer Felt Like Mine”
Lindsie, who is currently estranged from her father Todd Chrisley and stepmother Julie Chrisley, explained that the Chrisley surname had become a heavy burden — not a badge of opportunity.
“For a long time, I very much battled with carrying my maiden last name,” she said, noting that being a Chrisley came with “assumptions of all different kinds” and a public identity she never chose.
“Outside of Chrisley Knows Best, that last name did not create income or opportunity for me. In fact, it became very problematic in business and with projects that I’ve done since the show,” Lindsie shared.
She even revealed that in some professional situations, she was asked to use a different name entirely.
From Campbell to Chrisley to Landsman
Lindsie’s journey with her surname has been complicated. After marrying Will Campbell — the father of her son — she took on his last name. Following their divorce, she reverted back to Chrisley, but not because it felt right.
“It did no longer feel like mine,” she admitted. “But what am I supposed to do? It was just truly what was left.”
Now, adopting the Landsman name is about moving forward — not erasing her past. “It truly was a decision I made about reclaiming my peace and stepping into my future — defined by love, growth, and forward movement.”
Clearing Up the Marriage Rumors
Despite the name switch, Lindsie confirmed: “David and I are not married.” She emphasized that while they have built a stable and loving relationship, the name change was not about marital status.
“That name feels like home to me,” she said, describing how it represents the safe, supportive life she’s creating for herself and her son.
She assured fans that “if and when” a wedding does happen, she will be open and happy to share the news publicly with her supporters.
After the Chrisley Pardon
The timing of Lindsie’s name change also raised eyebrows, coming just weeks after her father Todd and stepmother Julie were released from prison following full pardons granted by former President Donald Trump in May 2025.
At the time, Lindsie made a brief public statement on Instagram Stories, writing: “With God all things are possible.”
But now, her focus appears to be firmly on the future.
“It’s About Protecting What Matters”
“This decision has nothing to do with erasing my past,” Lindsie concluded. “It is about choosing my future and protecting the people I love most while doing so. And it felt like the right thing to do.”
