Music Legends Rock Jeremy Clarkson’s Pub in Surprise Live Gig
The Wurzels perform at The Farmer’s Dog, delighting fans at Hawkstone Summer Party
A legendary British band gave fans the surprise of the summer at Jeremy Clarkson’s Cotswolds pub, The Farmer’s Dog, with a live performance that had the crowd singing and swaying to classic hits.
Located in Asthall, Oxfordshire, Clarkson’s pub—formerly known as The Windmill—has quickly become a hotspot for celebrity guests and unexpected moments. Since its early opening in August 2024, it has welcomed big names like Ellen DeGeneres, Portia de Rossi, James Blunt, and even Status Quo drummer John Coghlan.
But on Monday, July 14, it was all about the music as The Wurzels, the legendary Scrumpy and Western band from Somerset, took the stage at the Hawkstone Summer Party.
A Throwback to the ’70s – Wurzels Style
Famous for their 1976 chart-topper “The Combine Harvester” and the cider-lover’s anthem “I Am a Cider Drinker”, The Wurzels brought old-school charm, countryside humor, and high-energy fun to Clarkson’s pub garden.
The surprise performance featured a full set of their fan-favorite tracks, with pints of Hawkstone lager and cider flowing and laughter echoing throughout the pub.
From Top Gear to Top Pub
Jeremy Clarkson, the former Top Gear and Grand Tour host, bought the pub for around £1 million, renaming it The Farmer’s Dog in honor of his pets and rural adventures. The venue sits on what Clarkson cheekily called a “former dogging hotspot” and is set to feature in the upcoming season 4 of Clarkson’s Farm on Prime Video.
With its quirky history, celebrity clientele, and now surprise concerts, The Farmer’s Dog is quickly becoming one of the UK’s most talked-about pubs.
