Todd & Julie Chrisley Shut Down Divorce Rumors After Prison Release: “We Never Left Each Other”

Todd and Julie Chrisley are finally free—and they’re setting the record straight.
After months of speculation and tabloid rumors following their release from prison, the Chrisley Knows Best stars have confirmed: there’s no divorce in sight. In fact, their marriage has emerged stronger than ever.
“Let me set the record straight,” Julie declared on the July 8 episode of Unlocked, her daughter Savannah Chrisley’s podcast.
“We are not getting divorced.”
Stronger Through Separation
Despite serving time in different states—Todd, 56, in Florida and Julie, 52, in Kentucky—the couple said they never felt truly apart.
“In my mind, I was never away from her,” Todd shared. “When I went to bed at night, she was right there with me. When I did my prayers, she was right there too.”
Julie echoed the sentiment:
“I don’t think there was ever anything in my mind that we were separate or that we were ever going to be separated.”
Their reunion, after nearly 30 years of marriage, was described as effortless.
“There was no awkwardness,” Todd recalled. “It was just us—exactly how it should be.”
Prison Changed Them—But Not Their Bond
While their love endured, both Todd and Julie admitted that the experience of incarceration changed them deeply.
“We have changed,” Todd said during a recent interview on My View With Lara Trump. “If we didn’t, it would have been wasted time.”

Indictment and Charges
In August 2019, Todd and Julie were indicted by a federal grand jury in Atlanta on 12 counts, including wire fraud, conspiracy to commit bank fraud, and conspiracy to defraud the United States. Prosecutors claimed the couple had evaded nearly $2 million in state taxes between 2008 and 2016.
Todd maintained their innocence from the start, alleging that a former employee had stolen from and blackmailed the family.
“We’ve done nothing wrong,” he wrote in a public statement at the time. “And we’ve got hard evidence to prove it.”
Conviction and Sentencing
In June 2022, after a three-week trial, the Chrisleys were convicted on all counts. Authorities alleged that they and their accountant had defrauded banks out of more than $30 million over the course of a decade.
Five months later, they were sentenced—Todd to 12 years in prison, Julie to 7 years, and their accountant to 3 years.
“Their lengthy sentences reflect the magnitude of their criminal scheme,” said U.S. Attorney Ryan Buchanan.
Sentence Reductions and Release
In September 2023, both Todd and Julie received sentence reductions. Todd’s release date was moved up by two years, while Julie’s sentence was shortened by over a year.
They were both released in May 2025, after serving just over two years of their original sentences.
